$300 isn't a bad price for 13 decks, but I don't really associate TCC with quality. But according to the campaign page, almost 40 people disagree with me. Personally, I'd rather put that kinda money towards a Lotrek deck on my wishlist.

Personally im a big fan of Charmie's decks, but I can understand them not being someone's presence. Strong dislike is a bit confusing though. Why?

They have some good unique decks (their artist series though they started milking that..hopefully they got the hint) but a printer is only as good as their designers. Some TCC decks are good, some arent (I found their recent butterfly series faces utterly uninspired)

Lotrek Is gonna lotrek and thats why we love him.

This thread really needs some pictures showing the decks and the cards, especially the effect of the UV spot printing under ultraviolet light, and the holographic foil. Here's a write-up I put together about this project, along with plenty of images.

Zodiac Luminous Edition Playing Cards by TCC (Kickstarter)

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/se ... rds-by-tcc

A celestial spectacle crafted through multiple luxurious techniques

Price: $12 (Zodiac Single Deck), $15 (Astrology Chart Deck)
Current funding level: already funded
Kickstarter ends: Friday, January 16, 2025

Image

I don't know how they do it, but TCC Playing Cards continues to come up with innovative ideas for affordable yet dazzling decks of custom playing cards. As a brand, they focus on producing playing cards that are affordable, but without compromising quality, and that at the same time push the boundaries of what technology makes possible. As such, a lot of the playing cards they have produced in recent times are unlike what we've ever seen before, often by combining eye-catching holographic foil with other features that simply weren't an option to creators of yesteryear.

Their newest project, Zodiac Luminous Edition Playing Cards is no exception. Part of the concept is something that experienced playing card collectors have seen before: a set of custom playing cards where each of 12 decks corresponds to a different sign of the Zodiac. I'm not personally big into astrology, but I can appreciate beauty when I see it, so that concept alone gets my interest. As an example, shown here and above is the Capricorn deck.

Image

Image

But what makes these decks different is the use of spot printing with UV-reactive ink. They call it "UV fluorescence technology", and what this means is that when viewed under ultraviolet light, you get to see an entirely different picture. In this case, it's a star pattern. Brilliant! It's something so intuitive and obvious, and is the perfect way to take advantage of UV spot printing in a meaningful and functional way.

Image

Image

But of course there's more: the tuck box and cards also include other special features such as embossing, holographic foil, cold foil, and optional gilded edges for the limited edition versions of each deck. And each tuck box in the set has its own colour scheme and artwork.

Image

Besides the 12 decks that make up this set, there's also a separate Astrology Chart deck, with its own unique artwork and features - including the same UV spot printing which showcases star patterns when viewed under ultraviolet light.

And for collectors, there's a Wooden Box Collector's Edition, which is luxuriously packaged with a large metal plaque, and comes with a full set of all 12 decks in their luxurious gilded versions, each with matching numbered gold-foil seals, plus a gilded version of the Astrology Chart deck.

Image

One thing is clear: TCC is becoming increasingly prolific, and clearly they've hit on a winning formula. And they know us playing card collectors just a little too well, because they've figured out the kinds of things we really love!

These decks are best appreciated in person, rather than static photos. The animated gifs above will give you some idea of how these tuck boxes and playing cards look when they catch the light, and the pictures below supplement that with some additional images.

It's cool and all, but dare I say overwhelming? It's what I tend not to like with decks from Kingstar for example. The art is too busy. These will certainly have an audience though.

TCC will continue to churn out decks and there'll be something for everyone. They're one of the few that can do it sustainably, considering the profit margins from being the printer too.

Received these from TCC as a Christmas gift for my 10y.o daughter. I have a few decks from TCC. While I’m not a fan of these mammoth sets of 12 to 52 decks, the quality and handling are very good. If quality includes thickness, then you’ll be disappointed. Most of Lotrek’s decks will stand 8 cards taller when side by side with TCC decks (or a lot of decks for that matter) But for the price offered by TCC, I find the quality and handling is much higher than the price.

I'm confused....there are 12 different zodiac decks, but is the ONLY difference the tuck box? Are the inside cards exactly the same? I would love to pledge one, but I can't afford all 12 if the inside cards are different.

Here's some renders that show how the Ace of Spades, Jokers, and colors vary across all twelve decks, while the rest of the artwork is the same. Mind you, these images don't really do justice to the actual looks, because in person the holographic foil makes the cards look far more impressive.

I noticed that too. It's the right deck, but they must just have screwed up which court card they included in the picture.
