Re: Bicycle Color Series
I see the "01", "02", "03" in the little Spade on the side of the tuck. I wonder how far this series is going to go. Evidently they expect double digits.
FYI, it seems like Murphys has been getting these BicycleCards.com releases lately. Penguin then carries them with free shipping for US folks.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
Berry is a nice colour but having enough Fuchsia bikes I don't feel the urge on adding them. Maybe when I see them for a great deal somewhere.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
That's what I was going to refer to as well. If I knew how far this series would go, then I would be able to decide if I wanted to commit or not. Maybe Bicycle is telling us "the limit does not exist."
An eventual brick of all different colors would be nice, but maybe I'll just buy whichever is my favorite. We've already got so many bike color variants in existence.
I got the Bicycle limited series 1 deck from the recent socal bargain bin, which was supposed to have 8 variants I believe and people knew from the start. They ended up just making 2 but at least it allowed people to know how many to expect.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
Odd to have #1 and #6 be so similar. Even #2 and #4 are pretty close. Interested to see how this series develops.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
They arrived! Fwiw, the packaging from Bicycle was pretty good this time.
Each deck comes with a double backer and an ad card.
Very slight recolor on the courts (standard Bicycle on the left).

Yes, they're all the same.STLBluesNut wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 4:29 pm are all the courts the same colors for all 6 decks? cool that you like them though
FWIW, I think the decks are just fine. They are what they are—standard Bikes in new colors. Not revolutionary by any means, and I don't think they're trying to be.
I do think this yellow is better than the one used in the yellow rider backs, which as someone who likes yellow I always thought were disappointing.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
Some people have an absolute favourite back and they would be happy to buy it for $7 in a dozen different colours
I could be tempted so for Cupid back
I like Riders but satisfy my colour urges
with the Spectrum deck
For most other Bicycle standard backs, the Rainbow deck does me

Thistle back for the win. Although I doubt it counts as a classic Bicycle back design.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
Looks like they're trying to beat Fontaines with the number of color back variants. They're doing 1 better by having such similar shades with the Red and Greens.
What makes it sad is that they're charging $7 and not bothering to even have the courts at least in the same color scheme as the backs. Come on, USPCC, you've done something similar in earlier decks, why not with these?

Re: Bicycle Color Series
I don’t know, maybe my sense of value has been skewed, but in a world where custom decks are trending towards $15-$20, $7 for a different color doesn’t seem that crazy. They’re not gonna make as many of these as the $3.50 red and blue bikes.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
Not that I'm interested in them since, the colours are pretty close to already released coloured Riderbacks, but since they're production-cost-wise not a big difference - why should I pay double the price?

Re: Bicycle Color Series
If we're throwing out our dream set, I'd be thrilled for a generally available New Fan Back reprint in red or blue, let alone a nice bold green.
Murphys and I believe the Magic Apple did a great job getting the Aristocrat Banknote backs redone in the last few years, while maybe the Orange went a bit too far.

One man's pain is the next man's pleasure; the orange ones are actually the only Aristocrats I own. It's a fresh colour.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
Last three colors for this year, releasing tomorrow.
Strange to again get very similar colors to previous releases. The orange and brown look nice, but #08 just looks like a darker #04.

Re: Bicycle Color Series
According to Bard:
“As a rough guideline, I would say that it becomes challenging to pick visually different colors when the number of colors exceeds 10-12.
This is because, beyond this point, it becomes difficult to keep track of the different colors and to distinguish between small differences in hue, saturation, and brightness.”
It’s called “the NOC limit” I believe

Re: Bicycle Color Series
I tested the Bard's number on the 52 color Bicycle Rider Back Spectrum deck.
I had no problem choosing 17 distinct colors
The variations in the pinks, purples and blues are not overly represented in my selection as I found these the hardest to distinguish between
