Jackson shared an interesting picture on the kingswildproject instagram. Looks like the first draft for his Lord of the Rings deck(s).

I wonder how licensing is going to work here. I don't really want anything to do with any kind of tiered subscription so I never bothered with Kings Wild Project all that much. But I am a rather large LOTR fan. I wonder if he is going to (or even be able to) lock certain limited edition versions behind his subscription pay-wall. I can imagine there are going to be a lot of LOTR fans that want every deck version possible but will cause a ruckus having to subscribe to something and get decks they don't care at all about.

Or, I could be talking about something I know nothing about....lol. Like I said, I don't like subscriptions so I just avoid Jackson and KWP.

I'm not an avid follower as well so my infos my be faulty or overdue but the last infos I heard are, that this is an officially licensed product. He announced it last year that he finally got the license deal so this is all safe and sound. This will be a kickstarter of his. No subscription deck planned as for now.

I wonder whether Jackson has any say in when his LotR campaign would be - I could certainly see the Tolkien estate wanting to have this happen around the same time as Amazon's upcoming LotR TV series

LOTR Kickstarter is going to explode I imagine. Well, this would be me on a LOTR playing cards KS campaign...

I expect it to knock off Name of the Wind from the current No.1 spot of playing card campaigns.
First playing card Kickstarter that breaks the 1,000,000 US$ mark? I would say it's not an unrealistic scenario.

I know it's early yet, but I hope the design includes some more Middle Earth flourishes as it develops. Frodo (Bilbo?) looks amazing though.

Jackson has a great opportunity to bring some new collectors into the fold with this project. This will cross-over to the rabid fantasy fans (like myself!) and hopefully open their eyes to our strange corner of the world. I really look forward to more of these high-profile projects in the future because that means more eyes on the hobby!
