Plenty of "playing card companies" outsource their decks to other printers (E, LPCC, etc.).bigskybaby wrote:Nice deck with vintage feelings. However, you call yourself Brooklyn playing card company, but the deck is printed by EPCC? I thought you print your own decks.

True. However, I do understand where bigskybaby is coming from, I also feel like a "PCC" should be a printer. But, nothing anyone can do about that; Brooklyn PCC isn't the first and won't be the last. And it does sound good, so I totally get why companies put in in their name.vasta41 wrote:Plenty of "playing card companies" outsource their decks to other printers (E, LPCC, etc.).bigskybaby wrote:Nice deck with vintage feelings. No offense, but that statement makes you sound like a religous cult.BrooklynPCC wrote:Everything we claim in our ad copy is true.

You claim your 1000 print run to be one of the rarest creations of a generation. That clearly is false.BrooklynPCC wrote:Everything we claim in our ad copy is true.

Unparalleled comment. Understated card forum truth.sinjin7 wrote:"Among the greatest decks of cards ever realized, our launch edition is marked to be one of the most sought after and rare creations of a generation. An instant classic."
"One of the best decks ever made."
"Unparalleled functionality...understated game changer."
When I read verbiage like this, it really turns me off. This makes T11 and D&D sound humble.A print run of 1000 (just like most run of the mill Kickstarter decks) should not be labelled as one of the most rare creations of a generation.
Here's what we have: a tuck box with no bling (not a hint of foiling, embossing, serial numbering, interior printing, etc), no custom courts, pips, or fonts, and a knock off Bee back design. Its a deck printed by EPCC, so we don't even know if it will printed in Taiwan or China, and its on their Classic finish, which everyone here is familiar with - good stock, merely decent finish, nothing earth-shattering. Oh, and did I mention the price? $24.00 shipped for one deck. And that's the intro price. $28.00 after this "intro" period. This is actually laughable. Even if this deck was printed by the USPCC with MetalLuxe foiled backs, I don't know if I would touch this at $24.00/$28.00 per deck shipped. Oh wait, they did call this "one of the greatest decks ever realized!" Yeah. . .right. Can I pass any harder?
No.BrooklynPCC wrote:Come join us, my child.

Ok, let's put aside the ridiculous statements that make them lose all credibility for a moment. We're still left with a self-admitted simple AoS and Jokers with clip-art level bridges on them along with a back pattern that required zero design. Absolutely no other effort was put into this deck. So what else would make this deck great?Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:I'm one who can look past add copy and appreciate product. I don't need "bells and whistles" for a deck to be great.
I respect that people have their own individual preferences, but how many "latest and greatest" stocks and finishes are we going to see from EPCC? If every new stock/finish variation is so great (and they certainly insist it is), then why are they always changing it? This is supposed to be on EPCC's Classic finish. Again, we all know what that is. Even if these decks felt like Ohio-produced casino-grade Bee stock with Cambric finish (and it won't even remotely approach that, by the way), the design, or lack thereof, doesn't come close to making this great.Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:I gotta say, I have not held a deck of cards that feels this good in a super long time
If this huge, un-seeable feature is so great, maybe they should talk about something substantive like that instead of babbling on about being the rarest deck of our generation. Regardless of what this invisible feature is, it won't justify pricing this at $24.00/$28.00 per deck shipped, and that's the bottom line.Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:Oh and there is a HUGE feature built in that makes this deck a cut above, you just can't "see" it in the pictures.

Now having known that there is a "special" aspect of this deck I find the above statement (from the 1st page of this thread) kind of rude. It's one thing if the mystery feature is to be kept a secret for some reason (I don't understand why but to each his own). But it's another thing entirely to chastise members of this forum when it sounds like an explanation is not only entirely possible but will also help people "see." Again, I'm not asking for an explanation (though it would be nice) but a better response to sinjin's statement could have been, "The reason we're charging so much for a largely un-customized deck is because of a secret."BrooklynPCC wrote:To those who can see, no explanation is necessary. While I appreciate your explanation and now understand the source of the statement, I would also like to point out that David Blaine and quite possibly The Brooklyn PCC are in the art of deception. Putting your faith in religion and God and putting your faith in magicians are two totally different things. I myself enjoy magic and appreciate what magicians can do but if you needed someone to watch your wallet for a second, who would you give it to- Jesus or David Blaine? (rhetorical question) Maybe I'm thinking about it too deeply but my overall point is that if it weren't for your info, the project creator would still seem smug on this forum for portraying a deck of cards that on the surface is no different than your average, run-of-the-mill EPCC deck as if they're the greatest thing since sliced bread without even so much as hinting that the deck may actually have a feature that could make it the greatest thing since sliced bread.Magic_Orthodoxy wrote:It's actually a quote from Thomas Aquinas ... and it's about "seeing God" and the difference between believers and atheists. To those who have faith (can see) God - they don't need an explanation. And to those who can not see God, not amount of proof will satisfy.
David Blaine used this quote before he began one of his specials. I can't speak for the poster, but I am sure the quote is not about the deck's secret, or directed at you or any consumer. He is using it, like Blaine did - to refer to magic.
