Travel the World Decks (KS) by Randy Butterfield

Hey Everyone,

My newest design will be launching on Kickstarter at Noon EDT on Monday, March 10th.

The Travel the World Decks are what I like to go Info Decks. Each Card highlights a different travel destination throughout the world. Between the pair of Decks, there’s 108 destinations in total. I wanted a travel poster style illustration with each Card, but I knew I would be bored and abandon the project, probably before I got to 20 or 30 of them. So this is my first project that I utilized AI (Midjourney). I definitely am up front about it on the Kickstarter page. I really have no idea how this one will be received by potential Kickstarter backers!

Here’s the Kickstarter Preview Link:

Thanks, Randy

Knowing what a class act you are, Randy, coupled with your proven track record of printing great decks, I actually appreciate your upfront candidness about using AI. I'm sure you still had to refine some things and make everything cohesive. I like what I see so far.

Whatever the top tier of playing card creators is, Randy is in it-- I'm in for a pair for that reason :D

Moderators can edit posts. Vasta was being transparent about the edit and its purpose.

He has a unique label called the Card Oracle, which perhaps he could explain, but on the forums he's in the Global Moderators grouping.

I could be wrong but I think all mods' handles are orange. Either way kev is right across the board- thanks!

Looks like a souvenir deck.

I love it that Randy keeps trying new styles and new techniques. To JazzBaloo's point, not every attempt is going to resonate the same with everyone in the audience, and that's okay.

Keep on doing new things, Randy! I'm always intrigued to see what you do next.

Where did you get that as my point or perspective? 16$ or 13$ each if you get both. I don't think I would buy one for half that price. Sorry for being honest? But, to Rouselle's point, some people may like it and that's ok. In fact, 78 people like it so far.

The $16 is with shipping and Kickstarter fees included in the cost. So it’s really $10 for the Deck. I did not design this one for the collectors. I designed these for everyone else. I do a lot of in-person shows and sell to a lot of casual playing cards buyers. They would enjoy a travel design like this very much!

And it’s much more than just a souvenir deck design. I have plenty of souvenir decks (they’re the only thing I usually buy when my family and I go on vacation). Souvenir decks almost always have a unique Back Card, extremely standard courts with ugly colors, a boring AOS and maybe unique Jokers. And they’re usually printed as cheap as hell, plus with a smooth finish.

Thanks, Randy

No explanation needed for me. It looks like a souvenir deck. Not my bag but others can praise or purchase if they like to. Many perspectives should be welcomed.

I suppose I could have worded it better. Your post provided a different evaluation from some previous posts, so I guess I could have said: "as your post illustrated," rather than "to your point?"

Wasn't meant as a criticism by any stretch, if it came across that way.

Saw it as speaking for me, trying to for some reason soften my comment. But.... just saying it looks like a souvenir deck should not be triggering anyone.
