My feeling about Emily's decks is that she does wonderful card backs, the tucks are mediocre and the courts are horrific. I'm interested to see what the faces look like on this one.

There won't be much else to see. Shunterino summerized quite on point I'd say.

I like the back enough, and her pricing is usually pretty good, so I'll probably back it anyway.

while the court initially looks pretty great, i am still pretty mixed on this deck. the price and the rest of the courts will be a big factor. i have never purchased one of her decks before, this has about a 40% chance of being a first.

the only real eyecatcher for this deck so far is the court shown above. it is definitely a step above her previous courts with over half of her decks on KS featuring standard courts or the standard court bodies with real people faces abominations. for me, this court does have a problematic design choice buried in the overall beauty of it. the flowers in the middle, well done and rather beautiful themselves, are just a cleverly disguised banner covering the merge of the court halves. i still feel this is a design cop out and a way to disguise that an artist cannot merge the 2 halves or is too lazy to do so. i realize that this aversion to banners on courts is likely in the small minority.

the tuck is a rather plain design that would have benefited from using flowers like the ace and court shown. instead, the designer chose simple outline flowers. the type face used is better suited for children's books and does not match the artistic quality of the ace or the queen. all of this is printed on what appears to be plain, glossy stock completing the unimpressive tuck.

the card back initially looks nice and i like no border backs. after looking at it for a moment though i am not sure i like the 4 quadrant kaleidoscope feel it has. it causes some really thin elements along the horizontal axis and makes the flower along the vertical axis a 4 petal flower that doesn't match the rest. it just makes for a chopped up design rather than a homogenous, smooth flow.

the ace looks good enough and fits the theme with the nicely illustrated blue flowers.

i dont know if the mostly beautiful courts will push it into the buy zone for me in the end.

edit: i also think Sapphire Bloom would have been a better tittle choice. bloom sapphire just doesnt sound right, almost like a spanish ordering. ''the dog brown'' instead of ''the brown dog.''

I can only say that it is because the series is called Bloom and this is the Sapphire edition, Emily has told me she has at least 1 more edition in the works if this one is funded.

Pleasant surprise with the shown court card. Kudos.
Still not enough to chime me in. STL's summary is pretty on point for my taste, too. In regards to the title; she still could call the deck Sapphire Bloom and the next ______ Bloom with having the Bloom emphazised via the font being bigger like on the tuck shown.

I wonder if the back of the tuck matches the backs of the cards. A full bleed back design would be nice. I like the deck so far. Let's see more!

Based on the pics so far, I really love these.

Lovely understated tuckbox design, cool back which I imagine makes a great fan. I think the court art is sweet (keen to see more of them though) and the floral pips are gorgeous.

Anyone know who the artist is?

I agree that court looks good and is a vast improvement on her other efforts. I will definitely check out the deck when it goes live. My main concerns would be repeating courts and all of them being the same colour. Which may be part of the theme but I think would be a little too drab for my tastes. Still, I will keep an open mind and would be happy to eat my words.

I play with cards, not tuck boxes, so I honestly don't give a crap about the tuck. It's a bit plain, sure, but it's not ugly and it will hold and protect the cards. Mission accomplished. And if it's not foiled or embossed or die-cut and that helps keep the cost reasonable, then even better. She can always put out an uber blinged limited edition for all the tuckists to overpay for. The only thing I would wish for would be that the yellow centers of the flowers were more pronounced so that they would pop more against the sea of blue in the back design. I really hope this is a full bleed back, if it is bordered, then this goes from a must buy down to on the fence.

It is a borderless back! Her first one!

Only problem people might have with the deck as magicians and players is that the black and red pips are just different shades of blue.

This is a design decision and she is well aware of it being a polarizing choice.

Thanks Villan for pointing that out - I see it now on the two pictured cards. This may be a gamechanger for me

Nice joker, I am loving everything we have seen so far - so I might just have to get over the all the suits being blue

She could easily remedy the situation by having a players deck but keeping the sapphire theme with the blue back. I wonder if she's thought about it.

Depends on what else is planned for this series, I suppose.

Beautiful deck. I like it even more after seeing the whole campaign.

The sole splash of colour on the joker is a wonderful touch.

Answering my own question from earlier, it looks like the artist is @TwilightDecks.

My only peeve is that I would have happily paid a premium for a single gilded deck (or maybe even stretched for the gilded box set) had it been available as a straight reward rather than only as an additional purchase. Gilding really complements a borderless deck imo (hides the streaky edge and any rotational issues).

I may have to drop my pledge for the multiple misuse of apostrophes across the campaign page.

ahhhhhh I wish. I don't find the deck gives enough to justify essentially $30 per plus $15 shipping. The Curse of the Canuck strikes again.
