I just wanted to drop this here to see what the masses thought.

Chances are the color will change from red to another color. Possibly a dark teal.

The court cards will be all metallic ink as well as the back design which I'll share soon.

Definitely let me know what you think.

thanks

This looks like a good start, Steve! I think the dark teal will work well with the tan and brown details as well. I like the background pattern - it's classy and not too distracting. Nice font selection and I think the subject looks regal and interesting and I really like the transition between the mirrored images!

My only suggestions for improvement would be the hands and the tan sash. I have seen this a lot lately with custom courts where the proportion of the hands is off. He looks like he has tiny baby hands, so I would try to make some adjustments to make the hands fit a bit better and add a bit more accuracy. Regarding the tan-colored sash, it seems like it extends too far under his armpit. I think it might look batter to wrap the end around the mirrored subject's arm, or perhaps have the mirrored subjects arm just go over the sash to avoid the odd visual. I hope that makes sense.

That being said, this looks bueno!

The jack kinda reminds me of Lotrek's style. I like the pattern behind him.

I like the classical look with the modern touches. I also like the fact is a near two-way design, but the halves are subtly different (both the rose and the background tiles' locations are different).

My only complaint is that, while the difference is so subtle it is easy to miss (which I kinda like), it doesn't really serve a purpose, visually, at least. It feels like it's different for the sake of being different. The bottom-half rose is closer to his face, but it's dropped down so that it is further from his nose. I think a "smell the roses" motion was what you were going for, but instead it looks very unnatural, like he is about rub it against, or pull it from, his beard, depending on which image is the starting half.

Other than that nit-pickiness, I think this deck is off to a great start.

Thanks so much for the feedback and kind words brotha.. Yeah this is honestly the rough draft and will deifnitely have light adjustments. I will definitely look into everything that is suggested as there will definitely be things that other people see that I missed etc.

Not sure if that's being said as a positive or negative.lol

There are definitely a few influences that inspired me in the creation of the deck. Lotrek being one of them for sure. The Avant Garde deck and others that will definitely be named in the campaign. There are many elements in this deck that I pulled from various design styles across all types of decks. For instance, The large court filling almost the whole card was inspired by old vintage style European and Hindu designs. Things that you can see in other decks like Lady Moon from AOP or Kings of India by Humble Raja. The background of the court definitely comes heavily influenced by Lotrek and Avant Garde. I'm a huge fan of the contrast when adding that texture behind the court. I'm a photographer so that's sort of bokeh for me. lol

Thanks for taking the time and commenting

Thank you so much for pointing that out. Yes this is only the rough draft so there will be some adjustments for sure. It will definitely be a two way design. This is the beauty of showing things off here on UC as there are things that I wouldn't notice on my own etc.

I appreciate the kind words and comment. I look forward to sharing more along the way

Nice so far! Dark teal would be a great fit with the brown accents throughout. I'm curious - why the "almost" two way back with just slight tweaks? I'm wondering if it serves a broader purpose in the deck as a whole.

Thanks for the comment brotha. Yeah that slight one way will definitely be fixed in the final adjustments. There are a few things that will be adjusted such as the body line in the mid section and other tiny adjustments

Like most all of it. The ear with a pointy lobe looks like upside down Spock ear. Think it needs a tweak.

Also, hand holding "ax" needs more of a thumb. Can you grab a pole or something, look in mirror at it, and see how it looks.

Hope this helps and looking forward to more.
