I know the last time I shipped to Canada, it was $21 and overseas was $25. That's priority small flat rate box.

As for the prices to Canada, the shipping costs are issued by Art of Play. International shipping sucks guys, sorry, especially if you're just next door too.
Time to do some homeworks about that and find a better fulfillment center. I think we are all aware about average shipping charge and these prices are ridiculous. I can't support that.
Think of it this way, if we were to fulfil and ship each deck by hand the expenses would be higher than what is on the campaign right now. With Art of Play, mistakes in the mail are minimised, costs are minimised and brought to industry standard, and the packages are shipped quickly and are very well packed. Furthermore, these shipping costs are exactly the same if you were to buy a deck straight out of D&D, and I know for sure, is cheaper than theory11's shipping costs. International mail sucks guys and we get it, that's just the nature of the situation. And if you want to make the best of it, the more decks you back the less overall shipping cost per deck. Of course one deck appears expensive for shipping - its worth it guys.
cosmicsecret wrote:$15 to ship one deck internationally ...hahahaha Art of ripping off fulfillment!
Remember this project is in AUD - converted $15AUD is more like $11USD. AND Fulfilment costs are actually paid by US not our backers.

As much as i like the cards, i think the inexperience is showing, the "add-ons" are just combining pledges, the project just seems messy to me. Hope you guys pick up the ball quickly.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing and making me think if I should cancelled my pledge. With 5000 being printed there will be plenty in the aftermarket especially at places like Art of Play. It might be best to just sit on the sidelines for this one and not worry about possible printing issues, delays etc etc

SuicideKing wrote:That's a good one. $15 shipping to Canada for 1 or 2 decks (+ the included US shipping). Well... no.

It's about $5-6 more than others do. In fact oddly enough on the Regal project it's only like $4 for shipping 4 decks yet on another project being fulfilled by Gamblers it's like 3-4 times as much. Is Gamblers using other people's projects to make up the difference so they can offer cheaper shipping on their own projects?

Fes wrote:Cbkimble wrote:The only problem is it includes US shipping but it seems to include US shipping then add on international shipping for some projects.
They seem to do that a lot still. It's not necessary to do, not that it was before, but I guess it's still a trend.

Its still done because its just lazy project management on the fulfillment end. And there's no real incentive to even try to correct it because it brings in extra money. This essentially pads your fulfillment margin by back-dooring extra costs when you double dip on international shipping.
The way this project has "free" U.S. shipping for some tiers, but not for others makes it seem inconsistent and clunky. As previously mentioned, the "add ons" aren't really add ons, they just require you to stack multiple existing pledge levels on top of each other. The problem with this is that it in effect forces you to double up on the already excessive shipping rates so you get shafted even more. Plus, at $13.00 shipped for a single deck, that would be on the high side for a USPCC deck. But this is an EPCC deck - weren't they supposed to be less expensive?
I think the main problem here lies with the fact they're using Art of Play to do their fulfillment. I know they're doing that because of their affiliation with Art of Play, but I think that's a bad move. Most, if not all, collectors know anything associated with Art of Play/D&D is going to be over priced. But more than that, I had a difficult time reading through the verbiage on their campaign page. The obnoxiously highbrow over-hype is straight out of the D&D playbook.
I'm surprised most of you here gave them such a free pass on the one-way back. For me, its not that subtle, and the back design overall is a bit busy. The spot cards seem to just have standard pips and numbers, I don't think it would've taken too much additional effort to go fully custom here. And again, at these prices, it should be a USPCC deck. Having said all this, there are a lot of things to like about the deck as well. Most of the elements that are customized, such as the courts and Jokers, are very well done and attractive. It looks like the tuck is going to have all the bells and whistles as well. There are enough positives so this deck will probably get funded.

No its not. But its commendable. If they have the cash and the ability. Once its passed the funding goal it can no longer drop below it. So they know at the minimum that money is coming their way. (minus a few dodgy credit cards maybe) But this means now they know its locked in they are getting the ball rolling out of pocket to get these made faster. They have no reason to do this other than to have a quicker fulfillment for backers. So that's worth a pat on the back in my book.

Yup, you're spot on, and thank you! Essentially, the Expert Playing Card Company is starting the proofing process, and are preparing these cards for print. This should keep us ahead of schedule, and allow us to move through the production process a little quicker than usual.

Uh... What? Pretty sure people can still drop out before the time is up.
Not that this isn't in the clear, it looks like it is. Thankfully.

We might pick holes in statements here but the strange reality is that Expert have jumped in early .... Why do you think they have taken this stance, with this project .... ?

Tom
people can drop out of any KS projects right up to the last minute but you cannot cancel your pledge if it brings the project to unfunded from funded status.
