Henry's packaging is very sweet (Yum  )

That holo sticker would look good as a card/deck

The very first pic in this thread is a red cactus standard
Got Cards are selling bricks of these for a mere $48
Postage ruins it for Internationals but for you guys
It is a nice deck

To illustrate how crazy shipping can be (for me) but good for you

USA collectors can get 4 bricks (48) of the above red Cactus with free delivery
for the same price I can get 5 single decks of the black Cactus delivered to Oz

Most certainly not manu - that was the idea behind creating it and I have now attached the following to the first post

EDIT/PREFACE: Odds and Ends is for EVERYBODY to post their Odds and Ends :D

There really are a lot of good guys in this industry

Little things like Henry including a beautiful SoCal poker chip and a SoCal deck Joker (2nd in P52 Joker of '23) in with my order :ucstar:

Jaren (Got Cards/Cactus) might not be able to improve shipping but included a couple of red Midnight decks (see above) with my order :ucstar:

I love these kindnesses

An unusual choice of adjective for T11's email

Perhaps they were thinking of exquisite when they wrote this

...or we are mistaken and it was intensely painful for them.

I have seen the phrase "excruciating detail" before, but not recently. Along similar lines, I have noticed that people (or at least, the people I regularly encounter) have strayed away from describing someone who values strict attention to detail as "anal-retentive". Perhaps we are moving away from the idea that people who seem diligent to a fault are pains in the asses.

As someone who prides myself on attention to detail, I am in favor of removing the negative connotation. ;)

Anal-retentive also feels very Freudian and people have been gravitating further and further away from Freud as time passes.

So WE are the ones who experience pain from T11's detail...

“minute detail” is its only positive connotation, and the goodness of that depends upon your desire for detail.

Pain is subjective and temporary. Painstakingly detailed or Painstaking detail sounds more commonly used imo

David's review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4GmUh0t6-g

tells an interesting story behind the Aristocrat decks that Henry has for auction

https://socalplayingcards.com/collectio ... ed-auction

The review mistakenly says the new tucks do not have USPC on them but the side does say U.S PLAYING CARD CO.
Strangely the auction pictures don't show the numbers of these decks which are very clear in the review deck :?:

Does this etsy listing

https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1328269 ... 1328269336

of a supposedly 90's Russian deck, remind you of a deck from a popular designer just a couple of years ago

It may only be the colors that are giving me this impression

I was negotiating shipping of an oversized book with a Bostonian and mentioned I have a lot of custom playing card decks shipped to me

:o He asked me what custom playing card decks were :o

ps Be wary of Biblio quoted shipping prices - they are posted by AI and have no relevance to the seller. I had to cancel a sale where the shipping was supposedly $30us BUT he wanted $110us just for shipping

♠️ The Most Curious Deck in My Collection ♦️

Fellow seekers of the extraordinary,

Today I’m sharing something that defies logic, style… and maybe even good sense.
Behold: my Peanuts Playing Card Deck.

It smells exactly like school glue.
It looks suspiciously like it was fashioned from someone’s forgotten pair of novelty underwear.
And yet...
Snoopy himself is in his own aloof glory on the Jokers, reminding me that whimsy is its own kind of magic.

This deck might not be rare but it’s unforgettable and every time I see it, I’m reminded that collecting isn’t just about value; it’s about stories, smiles, and a little bit of absurd wonder.

So far I've seen some good ones but what are more of the oddest, most delightfully strange decks in your collections?

Maybe frying pans are another collectible.
They might be easier to get partner approval for

Does anybody pay $500 for a clock nowadays?
Near the bottom of the KS is interesting - those drawers look like what I keep my collection in But their timber ones look better than my steel

Not me. But I nearly purchased a wall clock that had a ball that would move around a round clock that was levitated in a magnetic lock that was way cool. They were $350+.

I’ve dropped that much on a pocketwatch or three - since sold but only a matter of time before I fix that…

Hey G, was that pocket watch Not that old. I found the minutes counting to 60 interesting as you could say it was made for telling the time digitally eg 9.44 Not 16 to 10

I’m a Railroad man primarily when it comes to watches - 1880 through the 1950s

Ball in particular was a high end trainman’s model - accurate pocket watches being the only thing keeping trains from colliding back then - I figure that model was from the 40s - checked, mid 50s
