These might have been already shown, but I got a pair of cardistry decks from NDO today. Not certain who made them, I took a pix of the side, says "Made in Singapore"...

Created by NDO with experienced Singaporean designer Marcus Lim from SVNTY, the School of Cardistry deck was designed to have a classic and timeless feel, with a contemporary touch.
This is a pretty cool, strictly cardistry oriented deck. Faces have no pips.

Decks that aren't functional as playing cards are a cop-out imo. The challenge is to take a traditional, playable deck of cards and incorporate design into them that make them functional to both cardistry and card play. I like what they did with the card "faces" on these "playing cards" and they definitely are conducive to cardistry displays and flourishes, but I can see how they could've been easily modified to include pips and courts and spot cards while maintaining that same layout and corner embellishments. This deck could've been so much more, but now its just good for cardistry only and worthless for anything else. Why limit yourself like this?

Having a different number on every tuck box would result in 2000 different tuck swaps. If someone decides to do that, then nobody is going to complain if they claim they're the first to do 2000 tuck swaps.

Vända Polaris Eclipse edition, I think. One of those three was a hand numbered #/2000

What I received past week and a half, Hipsterplayingcards.com sent me 2 Houdini by mistake and wanted to say what great customer service they have, not only did they let me keep the 2 decks, they sent me the one original I order and threw in a free deck, for no cost!!! ( my emails when trying to contact them went to there spam folder for some reason)

Haven't posted in a while so it's a big one! :)

The DC Bombshells deck. Just browsing around I saw GW has them on their ebay store so I had to get it. The vintage pin-up artwork from Ant Lucia, which the statues are based on. Technically all the cards are different, but they're using the same full body artwork in close ups, montages, etc.

The best thing that's happened to me lately:
I found the Rockwell International blue variant! The box is a little beat up but the cards are perfect! And what's more insane is the fact that it flew completely under the radar. No one else bid and I got it for the starting bid of $3.50! :o

I think I've used up the rest of my luck for the remainder of the year.

A Dragon Age Inquisition art deck. The artwork is fantastic and the tuck is nothing to dismiss, with metallic ink inside and out and embossing. There's a tarot version going around the Internet but it's crazy expensive and doesn't seem to be even formatted for tarot dimensions. Got it off TFAW along with the Sin City deck.

A Dishonored tarot with all the characters from the game. Pretty neat.

A jumbo children's deck from Workman Publishing. If the artwork looks familiar, it's from the same guys that publish Brain Quest. I grew up with those flash card booklets and they're still in our cars and are perfect for road trips. :)

And last but not least a vintage Tiffany and Co. deck set with funny courts. Really wish they had completely replicated the original deck with transformation on the number cards. Ah well, close enough.

Thanks and sorry for all the pics!

Last post for today, promise.

I had been meaning to get the mixies for a while. And I snatched them up on a 60s game bundle I found. Pretty fun little deck. :)

Best I can tell, crazy faces was produced by Fairchild and is a type of pairs/memory game. Repeating faces throughout four suits: circles, squares, stars, diamonds.

Crazy Critters is a variety card game from 1964. Comes with instruction cards but they're very simple games of the Old Maid variety.

I'm glad you got the blue Rockwell deck, Dan!
I saw it but, I didn't bid on it because coincidentally I managed to snag a blue deck the week before and I was ecstatic to get it for $10! :D Now, I'm looking for the red...

Every time I bid on a deck now, I'm wondering if we're bidding against each other. :o

I was pretty bummed recently. I lost out on 1/2 dozen incredible decks on eBay because I don't have deep enough pockets.
Collecting vintage cards can be very expensive and I questioned whether I wanted to continue. However, I still managed to pick up a couple of interesting decks for decent prices. So, I guess I'll keep at it. I'm hoping one will arrive today. I'll post some pics after it does.

The Tiffany deck surprises me. Every one I've seen has standard faces. I'll be looking at them more closely now!

I actually have the Critters deck and have had it since the 60's. I played many, many games with it as a kid.

 thanks guys! Glad you like 'em.

I wonder the exact same thing Martha. I thought competition was gonna be pretty fierce. And that was mighty nice of you to leave the blue Rockwell for someone else. Thanks!

Tiffany is just as tricky as the TWA ones. It gets even harder if you want to get a sealed deck. I never wanna risk it.

I recently lost out on six nice decks, all sniped out from under me at the last minute (one with only six seconds to go!!)

I would urge you to keep collecting vintage decks - at least, the ones which you like and can afford.

MOST of the ones I've seen have had standard courts, but I managed to snag one with those reproduction courts in an antique mall back in the 90s. As far as I can recall, the only way to determine which courts a given Tiffany has is to open it and look. :(

All righty, the results of some vintage deck hunting... sorry if there's too many pics! :?

First up, I had to pick up some decks from the '96 Olympics (all still sealed) since I have lived in Atlanta before, during, and after the Olympics. I wasn't collecting decks at the time (everybody was too interested in pin trading!) so here I am getting them nearly 20 years later.
96 Olympics.jpg

Second, an Obergs deck by Stig Lindberg. It's only half a box, which means it's missing the other deck from the two deck set but, it was a great price from an ebay seller who turns out to live pretty close to me! (I also got the Izzy deck from her as well).

Third, a John Player Special two deck set with one deck still sealed. The box lid is cracked pretty badly but, the cards are in beautiful shape. :ugdance:

Last two for right now...

A deck from 1947 by Forcolar.
Forcolar 1.jpg
Forcolar 2.jpg
And this one I'm really excited about. :D A deck from 1923- 25? by Hanzel. Apparently, there were four box versions: Green Clubs, Blue Spades, Golden Diamonds, Red Hearts. What's interesting about this one is the hard slipcase. Other pictures I found showed a black paper box. The cards and case are in beautiful condition. Sadly, it's missing the Joker. I'll keep checking Joker swap card listings. Who knows, I might get lucky and run across one. It happened with another vintage deck I bought!

Nice Green Clubs find!

I have one of the four decks in that set (I think it's either the Green Spade or the Yellow Diamond), but it's NOT in the slipcase - Nice!

Awesome findings, Martha! And that Green Club deck is really something. I like the court style, in particular the queen of spades!

I ran into a JPS once but couldn't find pictures of what the courts looked like. Definitely interesting to see them now. :)

I was eyeing the Green Club deck on ebay before but I couldn't do it at the listed bid price. I try not to spend too much on vintage decks. I don't think I have the necessary knowledge to foster a proper vintage collection.

Apparently, there was one that sold in February for 4 times what I paid.

I will say that I'm learning as I go. I do a lot of info searching before bidding...

and Lotrek's Icons deck is still the most money I've paid for a deck yet. :D
