I"m sure Gio will get at LEAST 2-3 backers from UC.
I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

Nice! I was going to try to be one of the first backers, but for some reason I thought the launch time was 4 hours later.

Actually it's a very simple idea (so no lasers/neon), but, as far I know, no one did this on a deck of cardsTimmargh wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 5:59 pmDoes … does it involve lasers?Thirdway Industries wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 3:31 pm […] the quotation marks have a reason, since I am not sure that "gilded" is the correct term for what I have in mind![]()

Re: Galaxia by Thirdway Industries - LIVE on KS
I'll give you a sort of a hint
You may have noticed there is no trace of metallic ink nor foil on Galaxia.
The main reason is of course the theme, but also I wanted to take a break from metallic since I did too many "shiny" decks lately.
For once, I decided to try a project where everything is not metallic, using only "bold" color combinations.
If there will be a Gilded Galaxia... I am trying to keep this rule valid
(of course, after Galaxia I'll restart using metallics as usual)

Non-metallic 'gilding' (or colouring of the edges of the pages) is happening more and more on books — also on serious books. The small books by Tove Jansson with coloured edges are so beautiful.
Great idea to move away from the metallic gilding!

Came through as an update to the campaign this morning - yellow matte edges - he is up in the air about them being produced, though I was quite certain from what little I know about him that he would make a late edition to the series…
Other changes as well, perhaps new faces

This might look kinda sexy with black cards offsetting against the yellow edges.

Re: Galaxia by Thirdway Industries - LIVE on KS
Since everyone was really excited about it, I've decided to make Galaxia Superba.
It willl be printed by with Expert Playing Card Co, which did a spectacular job with my latest Monolith Singularity/Horizon project.
It will be a new deck, with different courts, back and - obviously - box. The yellow matte gilding should be possible. It will be available on BackerKit, more info soon.

Looks great Brad! I just placed my order through Backerkit 2 days ago. Am I going to get them, or did I miss out?
I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

Re: Galaxia by Thirdway Industries - LIVE on KS
Hello James, if you submitted the order 2 days ago, it's probably a little delayed - I have 8 "late" orders stuck in BackerKit, and I think one is yours.
Please write me at giovanni@thirdway.it with the email you used on KS, backer number or your full name.
Anyways, don't worry, I will unlock these automatically one way or another during the next few days, I just need to decide with GW if they can process these via BackerKit or they need I submit a separate order.

Those are some killer photos hsbc! I cannot wait to pick mine up.
@Gio, I've been on board since Dedalo and from hsbc's pictures above I'm pretty sure I can tell you that these are my favourite decks you've ever produced.
That said I'm cutting back on Kickstarters next year (I know everyone says that, but I do mean it) and focusing on Patreon and subscription decks. Welcome to a foot in both camps my Italian buddy.

Re: Galaxia by Thirdway Industries - LIVE on KS
@hsbc - awesome pics! Thanks for sharing these!
@portcullis - thank you! I'm happy you like Galaxia! The unlimited decks are simple, but the colors turned out awesome. I am very happy with these!
Thanks for being a Patron! I am really focusing on it and will do my best to release great decks during the year. The first one (BM Crypto) was already announced
However, Kickstarter will continue to be very important for TWI in 2022 - for me, it's better launch new/big series there.

Re: Galaxia by Thirdway Industries - LIVE on KS
Received my decks earlier today.
I opened one of each of the decks (except for Integra, which is just a different box for Domina), and I love them all. My favorite at the moment has to be Domina; I love the feel of the soft touch tuck, and the effect of the full bleed yellow faces and the full bleed backs is simply exquisite. Superba is excellent with the shiny red foil gilding, the high-quality embossed tuck with just a hint of foil, and full bleed black fronts and backs. But, the Promessa and Altezza still hold their own, even with their standard-stock tucks, because (like Domina) they feature full-bleed backs on USPCC decks with their amazing slip, their perfect feel, and a sweet, pleasing aroma that is the hallmark of most high-ink, high-quality USPCC cards.
And, of course, there's the amazing story-telling design that Gio decks are famous for.
Super happy with these cards, and thrilled to have them in my collection.
Also, I can't help but suspect that if I had a black light, I might be able to find some details that I'm currently not seeing. I should probably pick up a black light at some point just to appreciate some of Gio's other decks, but as I say... I have my suspicions about Galaxia....
Great job, Gio!

Y'know, I am glad you admitted you like that USPCC "new deck" smell. Now I don't feel (as much) like a weirdo any more. Thanks. And I hate the color yellow, but that full bleed really looks great!
