Since most decks come with approx 56 cards, 2 gaffs/advertising that are normally removed, the 52 cards of the deck, and the 2 jokers. Do you guys remove the Jokers for more balance? Since 2 jokers throws off the balance of 13 cards per court/pip. Am I overthinking things?
I've practiced with the 54 cards in the deck but it's currently getting to my head a bit.

Go with whatever is comfortable to you. I for my part keep all cards in the deck, if they feature the same back design. I only remove double backers since they kinda annoy me, because they leave me with the uncertainty if a card is turned over

I also remove Jokers that have distinctly different indices than the rest of the deck (or none at all). No idea why some make them like that.Harvonsgard wrote:Go with whatever is comfortable to you. Re: Cardists: Remove jokers from the Deck?
I don't pitch them or anything, but when I handle decks I definitely leave the jokers and ad cards / gaffs in the box. It affects the thickness of the deck and it feels off to me. When I'm doing a thumb fan, I'm trying to get as much peek of the cardbacks as possible and extra cards in the deck impedes that. Clearly, mileage varies

I also remove the jokers and ad/gaffs when using a deck for cardistry. When using 808s I actually just save them up, they have various odd uses or eventually I have a "free" deck if I want.
