MPC's Beta ONE cards for cardistry

Unread post by Eric Lee »

Well, after introducing their new Linen finish with their Chao deck, MPC has upped their game again by releasing their very first Cardistry deck

"This is the 1st deck ever that uses this completely new development by MPC on playing cards. The aim was to create the best possible deck in terms of feeling and handling for performing Cardistry and card magic. This deck is "the one". Limited to 5500 copies

The finishing fully complements the Linen Air Light and produces a handling experience that’s nothing short of amazing. Silky smooth for fans, spreads and with an element of stickiness for cards to stick together, to your fingers as and when you need them to. We call this the Beta finish.

The card stock used on The ONE is nothing like you’ve ever handled before. It’s thinner, lighter, softer and possesses the perfect level of stiffness needed for amplifying your Cardistry and card magic skills. Highly responsive. We call it the Linen Air Light."

Have they mentioned if/when this new finish would be available for use on custom deck orders?

That's my hope! MPC could easily just sit around and do what they're doing - it's nice to see them improving :D

I'm just observing that if, hypothetically, a certain cardistry forum - let's call them Associated Tuckists - were, say, behind on their annual promotional deck, they might, in theory, be interested in hearing about a higher-quality finish option from MPC, who have always had quick turnaround time as a selling point.

You know. Hypothetically.

That's an excellent point, Eric.

I'll ping Eric and see how things are going as far as nailing down the next official decks goes for Amalgamated Playingcards.

Got my deck in today! Took some pictures:

The cards are resting on a smooth surface

This sort of ruins the whole aesthetic of the tuck.....

I'm assuming these are MPC's regular courts, not sure

From a KS update: "We're going to make this new card stock and finish available for everyone to use with their own designs directly on our MakePlayingCards.com (MPC) very soon. We can't wait for the roll-out."

Yup, those are their MPC standard courts, jokers and pips. THanks for the pips, but no review on how they feel and handle?

Come on Eric, don't tease us like that. ;) Even if you're not a cardist, you can still give some objective review comparing them to bikes, EPCC/LPCC, NPCC mongol and such. Don't leave us hanging here!

I'm curious how to get those CC Edition, i want some.
So far the Red/Blue Beta ONE has the best stock & finish of all my MPC decks, i really like that.

I'm just very curious, for the people who'v owned this deck, is it even worth it in comparison to USPCC/Cartamundi, EPCC, Hanson-Chien?
