What kind of releases have they had in the past? I'm intrigued by the source material. Curious where this is going :)

Rise of a Nation and Titanic are RJ's best work IMO.

Thanks for linking. That Rise of a Nation looks fantastic. I have Sons of Liberty on my P52 wishlist. I'll have to add these as well! Following RJ from now on. Cheers

RJ used to be a lot more active here and has been designing decks for quite some time. Some bad stuff happened to him (not my place to explain) and he kind of fell off the grid for a while. So glad he's back!! RJ, where you at?? Drop us a line.

P.S. I have no idea how to make that video play, probably because I don't have a FB. Insert 2pc's joke about my awful MODing here.

I don't think we can embed facebook videos in posts. I couldn't find the vid on youtube, so the best I can do is link to the facebook video. OP edited.

Glad to see RJ back.

The video is pretty simple, really: just teaser text over a clip of a shuttle launch. No card images or any hints at all, so I am curious :)

The images used for the card faces look to be high-quality, though the focus of this deck is definitely the unique seals. An interesting concept to have a different location of the moon captured for each individual seal. I am disappointed that the card faces are historical photos rather than the high-quality illustrations found on the Titanic or Rise of a Nation launches RJ has done in the past. I have added those to my wishlist but I will have to skip this one due to the change in aesthetic. I also don't know much about Kuo Kau as a printer and we don't see any images of the card backs.

That being said, this is still a great tribute to a significant moment in history and I wish RJ great success with this campaign!

So I originally pledged for the $11 deck but then upped it to the $15 tier so I could "own" one of the moons craters. It's gimmicky but for $4 I think it's worth it, if only for a conversation piece. But I'm curious, if many years from now we end up inhabiting the moon, if someone wants to build a house on my crater, are they allowed to? Am I paid a royalty? I realize this is a stupid question at this point in time but maybe 300 years from now it won't be that crazy. Sinjin, how's your lunar law expertise?
On a side note I hope this funds... might take some effort. RJ: come back! Drop us a line.

Here I am. In 2017 I focused on local history playing cards. I did a lot of decks but nothing amazing. I did history decks for Williamsport, Lycoming County, Scranton, Lackawana County, Centre County, Mansfield, Grand Manan Island and Bradford County (3 editions). Most of which were Bicycle branded but that's why killed me. I had a great concept where I partnered with local newspapers. They would run advertising for free to collect pre-orders for these history cards. The orders poured in but not as much as we expected. Since we advertised that these would be Bicycle branded, I had to keep my word. While I didn't lose money, it was still very stressful because the project barely broke even. On top of that, Bicycle took over three months which made my pre-order customers very angry. I had people calling my house all the time complaining. Had I printed in China, the project would have been very profitable.
I took all over 2018 off to rest from playing cards.

I debated a long time over the design of Apollo. I know this design doesn't appeal to the playing card community but I wasn't sure what direction I wanted to go. I also needed to get things moving to hit the July anniversary.

I'm not sure if EPCC and Legends still use Kuo Kau, but that's the printer I'm going with. Unless this project fails... which if it does I'll have to use WJ since they can print very low quantities.

Some of the concept art. I thought about doing a blueprint style. I thought about doing the hand drawn style. I thought about doing a Disney Tomorrowland style that was from that era.

While I would love for something like adverse possession to be possible over areas of the moon - in the same method applications as are made in terrestrial property law - but the "Outer Space Treaty" (yes that's really what it's called) was a 1967 bilateral agreement between the then space-faring nations (the US & the USSR) that the 'claiming of any region of space or celestial body ... is expressly forbidden' ensuring nothing threatens the peaceful exploration and operation in space of others.

Which kind of makes "Space Force" a little problematic, doesn't it?

For the uninitiated, adverse possession is a tenet under Australian law where if a property owner can prove after a length of time (12-15 years depending on the jurisdiction) they have owned a property or any section thereof (it's often only revealed in boundary disputes) then it becomes theirs. Kind of the opposite to eminent domain, where the government can take your house any time for any purpose.

Hang in there, buddy, one day you'll understand the difference between the proposed USSF and the AFSC.

Per KS update:
In the coming days, I'm going to cancel this project and relaunch using a different printer. I'm going to cancel opposed to waiting until this project finishes because of timing. I want to ensure we get the cards back in time for the 50th anniversary.

By using a different printer we can lower our funding goal and hopefully get funded this time around. In addition to using a different printer, I'm working on a more appealing tuck case. If time permits, I might work on a updated back design.

I appreciate all your support and I hope that you decided to join us as we relaunch.
I for one will be there. And I suggest everyone else be there, too! I've never regretted owning an RJ deck and you won't either.

Not that this is a deck that would appeal to collectors.. other then the custom seals that should appeal considering it makes each deck 100% unique.
I thought I let people know that it is funded and will be getting produced. Unfortunately only 500 decks but at least it's a start. I've been out of the community for a while now. One small step!
It's in the final hours of funding if anyone would like to have one.

Yes, glad to see this funded. I bought 2 extra custom decks for my friend and his nephew. Both are fans of outer space and astronomy.
So yeah, I'm quickly discovering, much to my bank account's horror, that having so many varied interests is expensive even when it comes to playing cards :? [MURRAY]
