2018 UC DOTY Entry Draft
I don't think there is a topic regarding this. If there is, Mod please merge this into that preceding topic.
Since we're passed halfway through the calendar year, I think it would be fun to discuss some UC Deck of the Year topics and candidates. Kind of how professional sports scouts start talking about upcoming draft candidates. When it gets close to voting time, please don't share what decks you're voting for on what topics, as that will only taint the actual voting process.
Edit: It looks as though DOTY has been voted on since 2012:
UC Deck of the Year 2012: Seasons by Alex Chin
UC Deck of the Year 2013: Federal 52 by Kings Wild Project/Jackson Robinson
UC Deck of the Year 2014: Origins by Rick Davidson
UC Deck of the Year 2015: Heretic by Stockholm17/Lorenzo Gaggiotti
UC Deck of the Year 2016: Icons by Lotrek / Wicked Kingdom
UC Deck of the Year 2017: Golden Oath by Lotrek
Millionth Edit: Looking for total categories won stat, not specifically Deck of the Year.

I was just thinking about this and wondering if someone knew who the new deck creators are so far this year?

I honestly can't think of many new guys. Kardeck? Will Roya (Strigiformes)?

Re: 2018 UC DOTY Entry Draft
Golden Oath was chosen as the deck of the year in 2017. Also 2016 was a tie between Icons Imperial and Wicked Kingdom.
I would imagine that I will vote House of the Rising Spade as the Deck of the year. Arabeque, Hana, Lunatica and Nouveau Gemmes probably will get some votes from me. Hard to say yet as I don't yet own all the great decks that have come out this year.
As for rookies, was Gaia by Ben Sinclair delivered in December 2017 or January 2018? Also shouldn't The Planets: Mercury count as it was the first deck designed by Srdjan? Strigiformers is a good choise as would be Alice in Wonderland.

You're right. The statistic that I'm looking for is "won most categories", which is what Gemini did. I'll have to look back and see if this was tallied every year.Räpylätassu wrote:Golden Oath was chosen as the deck of the year in 2017. Also 2016 was a tie between Icons Imperial and Wicked Kingdom.

Re: 2018 UC DOTY Entry Draft
Of course Essentia by Mankin Chan is another good choise for the Rookie deck of the year. That project should be shipping soon. EDIT: Essentia is not a rookie deck, Mankin had 1 successful playing card project under his belt before Essentia. Then I have to add Cartomancer.
Also: Golden Age and Jinni.

This will be a great list to reference when voting time comes around (in about 6 months lol). Thanks Brad!Bradius wrote:I had kept a spreadsheet of Kickstarter rewards so I could keep up with what was outstanding. And several that haven't been sent yet, but supposedly will be along 2018 (some are late, some are not):
Arabesque Player's Edition by Lotrek (aug. 18)
De Novo De Luxe UC 2018 by Rick Davidson (expected june 18)
El Recuerdo Playing Cards by agitcom (oct. 18)
Eneida by Fullhouse (aug. 18)
House Of The Rising Spade by Stockholm 17 (july. 18)
Maduro Playing Cards by Jackson Robinson (sept. 18)
NEO: WAVE by Montenzi (anytime soon)

Also, were due on 2017 but weren't sent until 2018:

I'm sure there are many more; those are just the ones I pledged for.
Also, a question: What about tarot decks? Are they a completely different category?

Some are are already listed. I don’t want to add decks until they are received, because they may get delayed. Whoever is appointed to run this can make final decisions on which to include or exclude. Thanks for the list. Other,s please let me know if other decks to add.
Edit: Added the following decks -
Bicycle Stained Glass (may 18)
Culminus (vol. III) by Nicolai Aaroe (feb. 18)
Hana by Steve Minty
Rganarok by Nicolai Aaroe (may 18)
I thought I had listed Culminus and Rganarok decks...
